When Dustin hung up the phone he said it either has to be a joint calling or something important for him that they wanted my support/opinion on.
All the way in Dustin kept saying "I really hope it is not as a primary teacher, I would be happy with anything other than a primary teacher"...
So when we entered the interview room and the first question asked of us was "so, Brother and Sister Hulsey, do you have any children yet?" Dustin and I looked at each other (him with a look of dread and me with a look of serves you right for saying what you did in the car)
We obviously accepted the calling to be joint teachers in primary (we have not been told which class yet.
We have been joking the past 24 hours... Dustin has been saying we got the calling for me to further develop my maternal instincts and experience before we start trying to have children ourselves at the end of the year and I believe it is because he was so strongly against it.
I think it will be fun... Dustin believes I am naive...

I'm with Dustin on this one. Nothing shuts down your maternal instincts faster than a calling in Primary. Congrats!
Not true! Don't listen to Tawnya...she's allergic to other people's children. You guys will do great!
Ok, so the primary president called and she said feel free to choose what age you and your husband would feel comfortable teaching but we prayed and we would be really grateful if you would teach the 10 year olds... there are 7 active ones. How are you meant to say no, I want to teach the little ones who do not have attitudes yet when faced with that statement?
Hence starting next week it will be Dustin, myself and seven 10 year olds. The primary president is coming round tonight to give us the manual... how much attitude can seven 10 year old polynesian kids have, right? Dustin is laughing right now...
The 10 year old class in my ward is the best; I love subbing that class. It's the little ones that drive me nuts.
I love all of the primary ages! The little ones because they are like sponges soaking up everything you say and they think you walk on water because you are the teacher. The older children because you can have real discussions with them about the principals you are teaching and they have amazing insight to the gospel.
I know, I must be weird, but teaching primary is my favorite calling ever!
You will be fine.
Yay for primary! You guys will be awesome! Although, if it were me, I'd so want nursery over the 10 year olds!
It's a good thing there's so many of you primary calling lovers out there - that way I can keep up my no primary calling streak!
(and, yes...I AM allergic to other people's children. They're sticky and annoying.)
I am with you Ashli. I am not sure about the 10 year olds... I think I would prefer little ones that don't speak... but I am willing to give it a go and see.
